How to change alternator belt?

Hello everyone, hope you can help
I have a '97 406 with 1.8 LX with air conditioning, and the alternator belt has snapped off, how do I replace it? Because its snapped I dont know what route it takes round the pulleys and tensioners.
any advice?!! :roll:

Hi, this what Autodata have listed.....1.8, 8valve, 97 to 01with air con.......

Top pulley / power steering pulley, down to air con unit, along the bottom to the crankshaft pulley, then around the tensioner, then behind the alternator, then round a guide pulley to the power steering pulley.

This is for the XU7JB (LFX).

hello, thanks for the advice - have successfully replaced the belt! Where did you get the info from? I have to replace the throttle cable next :frown: ...BTW its a 16 valve but it didnt make any difference to the sequence.

I have Autodata on my PC, Autodata is a motor trade information system.

I'm happy you got it sorted :D
