Immobiliser? Is it beeping? Is it turning over too slowly or as normal? Might it be out of fuel if the gauge were lying?
Are there sparks if you take a HT lead off (using something very well insulated!) and hold it near the engine while someone else turns the key? No? It's probably the coil pack(s)
If there's a spark, definitely fuel in the tank and zero sign of life other than the starter, try disconnecting the pipe that goes between the idle control valve and the throttle body in case it's suffocating. If that makes no difference, it's likely a fuelling problem. You could try pulling the rear pipe off the fuel filter and see if petrol pisses out when someone cranks it - that'll tell you if there's a problem with the pump. Otherwise you may have a blown ECU or a blockage in the fuel line between the filter and the rail

hi it was running and just cut out on me while i was driving then wouldnt start.i have tried jump starting but that aint no good
ill check all pipes.i was wondering if it was the spark plugs.it has bneen mis firing a bit while started.i think it could be the fuel pump as it was started earlier today but cut out while parked up
so im thinking blockage or pump
how much is a new pump

Hm multiple plugs don't just suddenly stop working to my knowledge. The engine WILL start and run on 3 cylinders, but it'll feel like it's trying to shake itself to bits. Likewise you'll know about it if one of the coils goes, as (someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i think it has 2 coils working alternate cylinders)
Definitely check for a sparks. If there's no spark, I'm changing my mind now and going to suggest the tdc sensor or its connection
Or just don't listen to me cos I've had a few

tdc sensor's somewhere around the flywheel. if memory serves it's on top, slightly toward the rear. I think the car can run (badly) with pretty much every sensor disconnected except that one (since it won't know when to spark)
Ooh here's another option. The inertia fuel cut-off switch between the brake master cylinder and the nearside strut could have tripped. It's supposed to kill the fuel pump in the event of a serious collision, but has been known to trip for no apparent reason

i have tried the fuel cut off switch but thats no goo do you push it or pull it up
i know where you mean the crank sensor but would that make the car just die on me

handbook says "press" to re-enable fuel
i know where you mean the crank sensor but would that make the car just die on me
without that sensor, the ecu won't know the crank's turning, so it won't send the signals to the coils to create the spark at the plugs. I'd check if it' sparking first though
