Rear box exhaust clamp ~ is that it?

My exhaust started to make the dreaded 'blowing sound' on the way back home, eventually making my car sound like some boy racer's 'wicked' corsa. I feared the worst, cos I'm skint as a skint thing in skint land, but it turns out the back box and central pipe are 100% ok, almost new looking. The flared ends of the pipes where they meet are fine and everything, it's just the clamp that hold them together has rusted to nothing. Yippee!
So, I just need to check ~ the clamp doesn't appear to have any sealant assisting it or anything, is that right?

Changed the back box on mine last month - tried to get the old one off & mangled my thumb in the process
So gave the clamp & new back box to local tyre & exhaust place that were doing the MOT anyway. Didn't see it done, but I don't think they used anything else, charged me £30, but didn't charge for retest. Got the clamps for both ends of the middle section from Peugeot, were about £12 inc vat - I think the one you want is the smaller, (& cheaper), of the two.

Ask your local car accessory shop or factor for these clamps, they are fairly cheap, get a small tube of assembly paste ( a few pence) to seal up the joint before you fit the clamp.
If your local shop doesn't sell them, go to an exhaust fitting place, they will usually sell you one.

Nice one. I'll check with my local factors.

Fraid its integral with the box. Mine failed its MOT cos the strap had rotted away = 'exhaust not secure', wasn't leaking at all

You might be lucky, but when I tried to peel the rotten one away from the box, the outside of the box came too

Guess it depends on how long you're keeping it - I expect have mine 3-4 years & the original lasted 6, so I replaced it with OE (£100) hoping it's the best answer long term. Saw some on fleabay for about £30 + delivery, but I think they're from Brum so maybe you could collect one easily.
