Does the 205 1.9 gti cam fit in the sri turbo?

I have a 306 that was a dturbo, then the engine bay went on fire, so decided to do the swap to petrol turbo power, I have had it in for a while now and am slowly tuning the engine, I amn`t looking for huge figures, but a nice quick car.

I have been told that the cam from this car fits straight in and is better on performance, as the standard cam is rather crap. Is this true or is it another one of those myths?

hi and welcome im doing the same conversion for my 306 and asked the same question.

the answer is yes it will fit but as for performance gains i dnt think anything has been recorded. the cam is identical to the sri cam but on the 205 gti 1.9 the lobes are abit fatter. to me this would mean that the valves would be kept open for that little bit longer allowing more air in and and a longer time for the exhaust gases to be expelled. should work but i wouldnt expect any mega gains

Yeah I know that theyr wont be huge gain, but I have got the 1.9 inlet manifold to fit onto it and got offered the cam, so may aswell see what difference it makes. I am going to ecosse at the end of the month to get it rr before i fit the cam, so will be able to see the difference after.

I take it your going to machine the head to match the 205 inlet manifold as they have different shaped inlet ports

I dont even know if I am going to do it know, as I was speaking to a guy the other night who had researched it and says the flow is not that great and pretty pointless to do, so he never done it, but then again my mate had it done to his, only thing is that it aint running to see if it feels different.
