If it's a cylinder about 2" diameter, 4" length with hose connections at either end and an arrow embossed on it, it's probably a straight replacement. You'll probably find your existing filter under the car between the rear drivers side wheelarch and the back door. It's a messy job and I strongly recommend the use of latex gloves and hose clamps

that sounds like the one, will have to go have a check for those arrows though.
Thanks

The arrow indicates fuel flow direction. It wants to be fitted with that pointing forwards

no arrows but there was an out marked which is obvious enough
however...... been under the car this morning and still cant find the stock one to replace

is it under the wheel arch lining? according to the haynes the mount should actually be next to the fuel tank but i just cant see it

If it's anything like the tubby it'll be clipped (or cable tied

) under the car just in front of the rear offside wheel arch.

if its in plain sight it def isnt there..... only explanation is that its hiding under a panel or something or just not there - is that even possible?
assuming that its not there or even that its hidden somewhere, where abouts in the engine bay would be a line i could tap and run into it?
some random shots of the fuel tank and pic from the haynes i was going from.....

It should be just off-picture to the top-left of the wide angle photo. I changed my last one without even jacking the car up...

thats the 'IMG_2947.JPG' right?
will try and take another look.... 'hopefully' before the weekend, but pretty damn sure its not there as having the replacement i already knew what shape i was looking for - besides the fuel line running in and out should be a dead give away :-/
thanks

I had an idea...
According to servicebox, later EW10J4 D9s (since 08576, whenever that is - you'll have to check your VIN) only have a fuel filter for dusty conditions spec cars

VIN is VF38BRFNAxxxxxxxx
according to service box under engine....
Particle filter WITHOUT PARTICLE FILTER
im guessing particle filter is fuel filter?

edit: agrees with mjb -
I've used your vin in Service Box and it looks to me like your car doesn't have an in-line fuel filter, presumably if it has anything it's part of the in tank fuel pump.

thanks, would it be advisable to couple this fram one i have into the engine bay?
at this moment im hanging my hopes on anything that could clear my antipollution fault

i know its no biggie on petrol engines but it really really gets under my skin
thanks
