As luck would have it I did mine last Friday! :cheesy:

1. Disconnect battery

2. Take a photo of the aux belt routing!!!!!!

3. Get your head under front o/s wheel arch; you'll see the aux belt tensioner. Fit a 1/2" wrench to the square hole which will allow you push up the tensioner and pop the belt off.

4. Remove bolts from power steering pump (two through the access holes in the pulley and one on the back. Don't lose the collet on the back of the rear-most allan bolt!
This will give you just enough room to wiggle the alternator out with the pump moved to one side.

5. Disconnect leads from alternator

6. Remove two bolts from alternator and it should fiddle out.

On reassembly I would fit a new aux belt for the price of them.

No worries :)
The bearings were shot in mine and the squeal was getting worse and worse; the final straw came when the car conked out on my wife last week!

Turn the key 2 clicks in the ignition and hold in the alarm disarm button (the one to the right of the steering wheel).
I had the same trouble

There should be a lock in the boot, turn it and it should kill the alarm
Alternatively check the manual on how to use the sensor disable button to disable the system

You don't need the fob. Put the key in the ignition, turn it to the accessory position and hold in the square button on the dash to the right of the steering wheel. It's the one with a flashing red light. As mjb says this disables the ultrasonic sensors which will stop the alarm going off. Have you got a handbook?

Really? Was it a new alternator?
You should still be seeing 14V across the battery with the engine idling even if it's knackered.

That still leaves the alarm active in other ways - the locks and disconnecting the battery will still set it off

There's something else you can do with the button to cause the entire system to deactivate
