ive got a engine from a Citroen XM i know this is a 406 forum, but the engine is the same, and in all honesty i joined the "XM Owners club" and jesus what a waste of time!!! i got slated and slagged off!
Ive put the engine into my 306. fair bit of work gone into it. few uprated parts etc
although ive got one issue thats causing me a problem
ive got a "t piece" with a connector to the ecu on it, and i cant work out what it is or where it goes! and i dont want to try run the car without it.
Although i do have, custom manifold fitted, T3 turbo fitted, Saab turbo injectors, custom down pipe and exhaust with external waste gate.
I am also feeling like there no power there, can here turbo spooling, can tell its boosting, but engines feeling restricted.
any one got any ideas?
all advice much appretiated.
thanks

We're (almost) adults here - apart from fridays of course...

I'd still love to know how those things squeeze into the 306 with the turbo hanging off the back...

You'll have to be a LOT more detailed here! Do you mean a vacuum hose or electrical connector? What's the connector look like? Pics?
If memory serves, the tubby's ECU box contains the ECU, a relay box (slide the red tab to open, else you'll snap the holding lugs on the connector under the rubber if you try it that way *COUGH*), and a little teardrop-shaped *thing* with an air/vacuum tube going to the ECU and another going into the loom I think - it's been about a year since I got rid of the tubby
I am also feeling like there no power there, can here turbo spooling, can tell its boosting, but engines feeling restricted.
It's a constant torque engine, and as such it has a VERY lazy feel to it. The ECU also adjusts the boost depending on revs to keep it smooth - it's not a screamer of an engine at all, and best performance comes from keeping it under (yes, under) 4000-4500rpm

well first of all, glad i dint get slated.
the exact words from one member on there were as follows
Your an idiot for ruining a perfectly good citreon XM there rare and should be kept as they are, you ******* Idiot. lol
heres how it fits
move the top engine mount and gear box mount
A little video of it running...
http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w124 ... ane003.flv
and this is a picture of the sensor
Its got 3 bits for vacuum hoses, and a 2 pin electric connector.
I am fully aware its not a pocket rocket engine, but will be rather quick in a 306! especially with the extra mods i have done to the engine. (custom manifold, Larger turbo (T3) and few other bits) i know il not get stupid power, i just had the 2 laying around and though "why not" upto now done everything my self. Just getting to all the bits i had to put to one side as i was unsure about them
When i say theres no power....
i belive its in "limp" mode as i cant get no speed up i can have foot to floor and go no where.
but i cant tell if ECU light is on as i have not yet fitted the diagnostics port and ECU Light!
thanks

That looks like a Citroen-specific part, but I'm going to say it's it looks a lot like the wastegate control valve. I can't remember too well, but I think one tube went to the turbo's wastegate actuator, and the other two to the inlet system. One just before the throttle body and I think another somewhere pre-charge near the dump valve. Servicebox may be of more use than my memory
The turbo valve sits on the 406 attached to the body roughly between the suspension strut and the camshaft and the plug is one of the first things to branch off the ecu harness
Limp home mode on this machine basically just kills the turbo (by means of this valve)

Possibly a really silly question but, is there anything written on it?

no writting, its something to do with the turbo. i know for sure.
looking at engine bay its mounted to the left hand side.
one side goes to turbo
one to inlet
one to wastegate
just need to know which side to where...

There's 6 possible combinations... If you go into Service Box, is it item 0000034558 COMPENSATOR ? I'm not sure from the picture (which I'd post but I'm fairly sure it wouldn't be legal)
