pug 406 bleed valve

Post by tonsta1978 »

Hi first of all great site, i purchased a 96 406 exec turbo 3 days ago! and love it.

now the questions,

1) i fitted a relatively good quality dumpvalve but it sounds very weak, as if theres no real pressure, i connected to the silver pipe running vertically down the top of the engine and plugged the other pipe going to the back of the engine, there is no leak from this plug. Any ideas? the exhaust is blowing could that cause de-pressurization?

2) i am looking to fit a bleed valve tomorrow anyone have a photo of where it should go? or any written help of where to find? i am thinking of running no more than 12psi wwill this be ok on stock engine, turbo? i am trying to get the boost in all the gears not just 4 and 5 and a little in 2nd. i will have a boost gauge and a lockable bleed valve (so wont open under vibration)

Thanks for any help and advise in advance!

PS she sailed through the MOT yesterday with NOT 1 advisory and shes done 113000 lol

There ain't. The XU10J2TE runs at low boost hence why it's so reliable

You should be getting boost in all gears, noticeable from about 1500rpm until it dies at 4000rpm. Be very careful pulling onto a road/roundabout in the wet as it's easy to suddenly start spinning when the turbo spools up

Still a baby :)
