first of all i know its not a 406 but i need a bit of help with my Mi16 . i was driving home tonight and it started missing a lot ( its been doing now and again for the last 2 or 3 weeks but now its there all the time ) . it only happens when im driving and not when im just revving it ( its only when the engine is under load ) . i was thinking of spark plug leads may be on thier way out but my knowledge of petrol engine ignition systems isnt very good :? . i put new plugs in there about 3000 miles ago so i dont think its them . does it make a difference if i took the car for a krypton tune or dont modern ( ish ) injection systems need them cos i aint seem any garage advertising them for a few years . im going to put a new set of leads on her tomoro but can anyone tell me what else might cause it as i cant afford to spend much on her just before xmas . thanks guys

This time of year there's always a lot of condensation about, my first XU9J4 always seemed to be prone to it, after wasting my money on new leads I took all the plug leads off, cleaned them and sprayed the buisiness ends with ignition sealer* and all the sillyness stopped. When my second one started doing it I cured it the same way.

*if you spray the whole engine as the makers suggest it looks awful and you can never get it off again

problem solved , it was my distributor cap . the contact inside was broke so a new one for £18.50 has got it sorted and she's running sweet as a nut again :cheesy:

Splendid!

has fond memories of knackered carbon brushes and tracking dizzy caps...
