stalls on hard cornering

Hi,

I have this wierd problem with my pug. When driving on long (little bit more enthusiastis), corners the engine dies. In other words, when the car experiences little bif of side g-force for a while it dies.

(d8 1.8i)

Does anyone have a clue what is going on here?

Er, no. Left hand bends, right hand bends or both?

may seem stooopid but are the revs dropping to idle, or does it jst die
if it drops to idle, then its your engine way of telling you to change down a gear (or 2)
if it jst dies, ask a spanner monkey

The engine just dies, my driving is fine.

It doesn't have to be reckless cornering, but only a longer bend and more speed = bit of g-force. and engine dies.

I belive it works on both sides.

any suggestions at all?

:?: If you'd have said it only happens on left/right turns I'd be thinking about fuel rushing about but I'm going to hazzard a guess at a loose connection somewhere on your engine management. Can't hurt to have a poke about!

I agree with Steve. My 1.8 suddenly developed the habit of dying when I pulled up sharply, not funny when you suddenly lose the power steering and brakes!
I put up with it but when I installed a trip computer I took off the main ECU connector while I soldered in the fuel data lead, the problem didn't happen again!
It's a shot in the dark but it would be worth pulling any plugs & spraying them with contact cleaner.

The connector on the top of the relay box (thing next to the ECU) is horribly weak, could be worth giving that a good shove down

Right.

I'll do it slowly bit by bit and hopefuly get it fixed.

and yes, it's not fun when you lose steering and brakes in the corner :)

Plus I'd imagine sudden vast amounts of engine braking - woooha there!!.... Hello ditch.

You need to get your brakes seen to! You should have a good few assisted presses after the engine stops.

How much fuel do you have in the tank?

Could be a fuel surge. I can manage to get these when I still have as much as 1/2 tank when I am pushing it hard on corners during trackdays in the saxo. Coming out of woodcote onto the pit straight at silverstone is a prime example of such a corner.

make sure the correct battery is fitted, and the terminals are securely attached, a mates 206 did this untill we put a block of wood under the battery and clamped it down tighter
