8) Above all get it checked out by a reputable garage, when the stop light appears this is a warning of serious problem and can result in engine damage if not resolved, ask the garage to perform a preesure test as a worn headgasket can cause this alert, it may also just be a simple electrical problem, but do get it checked out. it cost me 900quid last yr to have the head skimmed and new gasket.

If you have AC the fan should come on when the AC is on and go off when its off (providing the engine isn't too hot).

If the fan is on constantly it could be a problem with the fan relays, which are mounted in the fan housing. Lots of post on here about problems with the relays, have search!

If its not that it will need the fault codes reading to find out what it thinks is wrong. Could just be knackered sensor or a real problem. The fault codes should give you some indication.
