My exhaust bracket is rattling at low revs and on my last service, the technicain said the bracket was rusty and the backbox was slightly loose.
Its really getting noisy now and im gonna need to do something about it, can I just replace the bracket or do I need a whole new backbox?
IF so then its the excuse ive been looking for to get my new scorpion performance backbox. Missus will never know.
What will it cost to replace just the bracket?

Noooooooooo a 406 should never be fitted with a 'performance' back box (unless it's turbocharged). It will look and sound a bit silly IMO a waste of money and the kind of thing you will regret doing I think.
As for the missus not knowing, I think the annoying droning sound will give it away

Hello, I have just been having a similar sounding problem. See my post 'another exhausting problem'. I'm not sure if you have exactly the same as me but the metal strap that attaches the metal hooks to the silencer had rusted through and fell apart. I have just used stainless steel cable ties to secure it all. Seems to be very secure and is a very cheap option. I got some from screwfixdirect. Might be of some help to you.

Cool nice one. I will have a better look next week when I can get the car up onto a ramp, and if that is the problem then I will order some metal cable ties.
...still quite fancy a performance backbox though....lol
