stick a V6 engine in the boot

194bhp and a sh*t load of torque
but more realistically gti6 inlet and exhaust manifold's, gti6 cylinder head, custom exhaust system, remap and you may see 160bhp

What's your budget?
The cheapest option to add power to a naturally aspirated engine is a NOS kit, probably cost around £600 to get a 50bhp kit fitted but it's the best power to pound ratio.
Next up is an engine transplant, you could get a 2.0 turbo lump dropped in for around £1000.
Next up is good old fashioned tuning... port and polish, manifolds, throttle bodies and custom management or a twin carb conversion. This'll be about £2000.
Don't even bother with a turbo or supercharge conversion of the 1.8 engine - there's virtually zero supply of essentials such as forged low comp pistons and steel rods. if you could find somewhere to do it, it'll cost around £3000.
In the long run, it's usually way cheaper and a lot less hassle to sell your car and buy one with a bigger engine.

just buy a V6 estate, you wont look back
until of course, you try and find somewhere to change the cambelt for less than £900

You will love the V6. I love mine.
Take one for a test drive, you will want it there and then.
Thats what i was like but the one i test drove didnt have leather. So i found mine with leather on ebay and won it for 1500 notes

One word..............NO. Sorry. On a long motoway run taking it steady you will be lucky to see 32/33mpg. Around town low 20's.
But its worth it.

exactlly, if you buy a V6 you dont think about fuel economy, its about upsetting the pikey chavs in there punto/fiesta/saxo shite boxes with go cart engines
