How Do I check the MAF with a Multi meter HDI 90

Hi

I am having a intermittent fault with my 2003 406 HDI 90 Manual, when driving between 60 -70 mph it sometimes momentarily looses power almost cuts out and then recovers and drives normally, I have looked at several posts on here and it seems it is possible to check the MAF with a Multi meter, but not any note of the procedure or the readings that should be expected when testing

If anyone has this knowledge I would be grateful for the details

Thanks in advance for any help

Regards

Marc

It's probably easier to disconnect it and then see how the car drives.

(i.e. errr, I don't know  )

Yeah, I would just disconnect it first to see if things improve, and if they do then you have found the culprit.

Hi thank you for the replies suggesting disconnecting the MAF and see how it drives but I was looking for a more concrete way to diagnose the issue.

After much research I have found the figures and procedure that allow you to check the 5WK9621 Siemens MAF and I would be happy to share this, but unfortunately I can not seen to upload the PDF file to my post, If anyone can instruct me how to upload a PDF I would be grateful

Best Regards

Marc

It looks like Google drive is the place, providing the file isn't enormous...

I'm afraid not, I guess this forum, like most of them, is only geared up for pictures. I suppose it would fill up if it allowed everything :( I'd think you have a Gurgle account of some sort, it seems like you can't avoid the damn crooks. Failing that email it my way and I'll upload it. It sounds like something we should have so well done for tracking it down.

I would be interested to see that too.
I have looked at the readings on good and faulty MAF units via PP2000 - in my experience a faulty unit will usually display a slightly higher air flow at idle, but will also show a reduction in air flow initially as you gently raise the idling speed. Beyond this the values then rise as normal with engine speed.

That'll do nicely :cheesy: I tampered with your post so it appears as a picture. I'll post it to the KB once when I'm not half asleep.

Not a problem :cheesy: That would be the knowledge base  All I have to do now is remember how to copy a thread there...

I'm wondering if these are actually in the Service Box back-up repair manual. I never found much of anything that was useful in there mind.
