My 406 is 1999 1.8 manual version. Yesterday morning i tried to start the car didn't start (didn't even cranked) But after few hours i tries again and it started up. Then I reved to red line while in neutral. After hitting redline engine stopped. Now it's only cranking and doesn't start up.
I'm afraid i valve bounced. Is there anything i can try?

Does the engine turn over faster than normal when you try to start it? If so the cambelt has probably broken. Assuming yours uses a cam belt, I only know about diesels.

I wonder if there is damage to the crank sensor?

i wonder if the rev limiter kicked in and is "stuck" on so has stopped the spark? im not familiar with more "modern" cars so not sure where or what the limiter is.

It's set in the ecu. I dunno, belt jumped a tooth, dropped a valve, endless possibilities.

thought it might be summert to do with ecu (promise)! loss of spark is going to keep me thinking.
