Engine Breather issue??

Post by Wag »

My dipstick has twice "popped out". I found it raised when I check the engine bay.
Could this be a blocked Breather? If so, how do I check this out?

Hi it could be, assuming i'm looking at the right picture on google pop the engine cover off theres a pipe runs from the rocker cover towards the front could be that one though looks a bit to big to block up, there is also what looks like a pcv valve on the right hand side of the rocker cover that should have a pipe going to the intake check that one as well, hope this helps you a bit in where to look I have the 2.2hdi so completely different design so i'm just going by pics on google.

No worries just take a look at any pipe that leads from the intake to the engine, because off emissions all engine breathers will lead to the suck side of the intake because then the crankcase will have a slight vacuum so any oil mist or ring blow by will get drawn in to the intake and not vented to the atmosphere Or as possibly in your case out off the dipstick tube.
