IWould this be possible?

So... I did my first post in the forum... and I did it in the wrong place. I could only blame it on the late hour.
The post is relevant for me, but not where I posted it. Could the moderator move it to "Engine, Clutch and Transmission", or should I delete the post and create a new thread in the right place?

Regarding the post: I have had this thought for many years. First for my Xantia V6 Activa and then for my 406's as I'm still want to change to the next gear at higher speeds. The engine seems to be strong enough for longer legs and with the cost for petrol, environmental thoughts and noise level I think it would be a logical thing to do when changing clutch. Also, the scrap yards in Sweden are full of used 407 diesels, so the cost for a gearbox isn't really a question. The real question is if the box will fit and that it isn't too high geared.

Hello & Welcome to the forum. 8)

I have moved your post as requested.

It might help if you give details of your current engine and gearbox, (or the VIN code so we can find the information on service box) http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/

Also, which gearbox do you want to use? - HDi 90 is lower geared than Hdi 110/136
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Welcome.

Sorry, but I start to go a bit giddy when I think of the V6 Activa - it's a car I would definitely choose for myself as they are fantastic, yet underated cars.....

I think some later V6 petrol 407s had a 6 speed box which I believe will fit - however I'm not 100% sure - worth checking.

Thank you Doggy for moving my post.

What I'm thinking about is the gearbox from a 407 2,2 Hdi. They are common in Sweden, and there are lot of gearboxes to find for a good price.
The 406 I'm thinking of to put the gearbox into is a 2000 year model with the 210Hp engine.

GingerMatic: The Activa is one of the great cars I highly regret that I sold... as with the Xantia V6 Break, BX 16V, the Alfa 75 Turbo, Bertone 1750GTV, GTV6 and my first Alfasud... I've done a lot of stupid things, but I will try to keep the 406. :)

The 407 gearbox will probably fit, but it may well be geared for 17" or 18" wheels and so might not give you the result you are looking for.
