Hi. I have red light for coolant low level. The lamp turns off after 2-3km. I checked the coolant level, then replaced it with new and the light is still on for some minutes every day. I think the problem is in coolant level sensor and found another sensor (second hand). The question is how to replace it. Is there chance for coolant leakage when sensor is removed and the tank is full or its position is above coolant surface level and potential leakage will be insignificant?

Re: Coolant level sensor replacement
You just turn it anti-clockwise by 90° & lift it out,
First put some small bore rubber tubing in the header tank & siphon 500mls off (windscreen washer pipe is ideal)

Re: Coolant level sensor replacement
I guess if I open the cap to balance the pressure inside and outside the tank, then put the cap - when the sensor is removed, the coolant cannot leak because of vacuum. In other words the replacement may be done without siphon 500mls off.

Re: Coolant level sensor replacement
If you loose some coolant you can just top it up again
Just need to know what type is in there already
My method just saves any mess & the need for more coolant, it's very easy & takes a couple of minutes
But yes what you have suggested should work but if your coolant level is correct it's higher than the level
of the sensor.
