AL4 gearbox problem

The AL4 autobox on my 406 estate may be terminally ill. It began with a slight hesitancy in taking up the drive between over-run & power take-up. Now it sounds like spoons in a tumble dryer. It will take up the drive & can work up to top gear where it runs OK, but once warm, when you need a downchange to third it changes down jerkily & won't go above about 30m.p.h, nor will it go back into top. We had to be recovered off the A20 at Limoges last week, & now it lurks in the driveway at our place in France. I fear there could be a corner of a foreign scrapyard that will be forever England, unless anyone has any suggestions... Only done 65K (with a replacement box at 15K). I guess they make these boxes out of finest French chocolate.

I would be wanting to speak to the suppliers of the replacement box
15k is shocking but if it had to be fitted a 50k that's not good ether
