Radiator fan motor broken - how to replace?

Post by 8Jb9 »

The RHS (with respect to the driving direction) fan motor doesn't spin, and I've confirmed that it's there's an open circuit across the motor. Have any of you removed and/or replaced the fan assembly or motor? It's easy enough to get to the fan assembly from the front, but the motors are bolted on from the condenser-side.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Sounds like the D8 set up, like my 2.1zd. You can get to the nuts but you'll have to shift the rad and condenser by removing the slam panel and the two clips and forcing them backwards. Or you can drop the front bumper and drop the whole lot out downwards, it's a lot more of a faff but you won't loose all your knuckles...

On mine (ecia) the brushes wore out, the motor bodies are staked closed so you have to mangle them to get them open. I couldn't get any brushes for them here so I got some bigger and filed them down.
