right, i may be fitting my GTi6 camshafts next weekend but i just realised, i havent got a clue how to tell which camshaft is inlet and which is exhaust, i know on the camshafts in my engine they have numbers stamped on them to identify each one, but does anyone know how to tell the GTi6 one's apart?

As they only fit in one way, lobe placement is the only identifier you will / should need! Your lobes will miss the followers or be off center if the wrong cam is placed in the wrong location....

Just remove your cam cover and have a peek ! :D

There will also be a stamped ID/part number on the cams, do you have the workshop manual as this gives you information on identifying the cams, if not enter the numbers in the post and I will confirm for you ! :D

i wont be able to tell by my cams as the standard 2.0 16v (RFV) cams, exhuast and inlet are identical, only the RFS engine cams are different
im not at home at the moment, so i havent got the numbers off the cam, i know when i had a quick look they both had 6 stamped on them, and one cam had loads of numbers whereas the other had just the 6

:arrowu: So will the car be finished after this bodywork then?

I don't think you will be happy until you've made it 4-wheel drive

ProDrive.... if your going to do it... do it properly... they will sort you out with some sweet drivetrain, you want WRC spec F1 paddle gearing? not a problem... only 6k - 20k depending lol
