Intermittent starting fault!!!!!!!

Hello Guys,
Hope you can help me with a intermittent problem.

I own a 406 petrol sri, with 163000miles on it and it drives brilliantly, but it has developed a intermittent fault which is driving us crazy!!

Sometimes when going to start it, it will just turn over for 4 or 5 goes then start and drive fine, other days it will start straight away and drive fine.
We have had it into a garage who could not find anything wrong with it and it wasn't showing any codes.

so we have changed the plugs leads and air filter and also the coil pack off a working donor car which we bought cheap due to bad body work.
took it out for a drive and it was fine, then sure enough the next morning I went to start it and it wouldn't, i give up after 3 goes as it was 5am!!
tried it again 2 days later and it fired straight away no problem.

Like I said we have all the spares of a working car that I drove home for 250miles without any problems it just knowing what to try next??????????

Please help as its driving me and my father mad as it was his car for 7 years previous and he gave it to me last year.

Thanks,
Kris.

I've never changed one on a 406 tbh,
I'd guess it'd be bolted in place on top of gearbox by something like 1x10mm bolt

Video ain't a 406 but it might give you an idea in what area to look.

Hi, just wondering how you got on with the crank sensor as I'm having similar problems with my 406. Did it cure the problem? Cheers, Ben
