Short Shifter

Hey guys,

I've been searching and searching the web lately for a short shifter kit for my 406 2.0 petrol, after realizing a 12-13cm shifting throw is just a little bit ridiculous.. If anyone has or know of a short shifter kit and could point me in the right direction, that would be muchly appreciated!

Oh, and while I'm on the topic of shifting; I have been experiencing quite rough gear changing for a little while now and wondering what it could be. It just gets stuck a little bit, especially when I go from 3rd to 2nd, it also gets stuck and wont go into reverse unless I re-engage/disengage the clutch. Most of the time it goes into reverse but has a crunch. I wouldn't of expected this from a car that has only done around 32000kms (20000 miles).

Thanks!

There was a thread a while ago about simply removing the gear knob and cutting down the stick with a hacksaw - making a kinda short-shift??

Well it would shorten the shift a bit, but I'm thinking more of a quick-shift kit. I'm quite sure it's got something to do with the pivot point of something on the shifter making it shorter to shift into gear.

i have absolutely no idea i need to get hold of the gear stick and have a look at one first then see about adjusting the pivot points and leverage

Should be easy to design - implementation may be harder

depends on what gear linkage you have if its cable or rod if its rod then you could try one from the 306 or 405, the cable linkage short shifter needs to be made

The 306 ones are a totaly different set up as far as I can see,
I took one of a xzara..today same set up as the 306
From the look at it they can be modified easily with a decent vice,
