ok so the c5 and 407 boxes fit the D9 406,
they can also fit the D8s with a bit more work,
but the easiest thing to do with a D8 406 is pull the box off a hdi 306 and fit it? Any particular gearbox number or any of them will do?

Hey guys,

I've got a question. Does clutch housing from ML5 gearbox would fit into ML6 gearbox? I'm asking, because Peugeot 508 HDI have ML6 20MB27 gearbox with exactly the same final drive ratio - 16x65 a.k.a. 4.06.

Cheers.

Okay, I think I can reply myself ;). ML5T certainly won't fit. There's difference in gear rollers place in gearbox. But there's a chance that ML5C clutch housing would fit. In service box ML5C and ML6C looks pretty similar with placing of gear rollers.

Oh well.

Probably the first (and only one) 406 HDi 110 with 6-speed gearbox ;)

Go on then don't leave it at that, give us details on which box & how :)

Top work by the way 8)

I have to confess if I hang on to mine much more & do much more to it it'll be somthing I'll do

2500 rpm's @ 150 kph or 93mph in real money is tall gearing, good for fuel economy at 70mph or 112 kph :cheesy:

Okay, edited because of, well, you know.

Unfortunately there's no P&P gearbox for 2.0 HDi. This one is combination of 20MB04 (gearbox side) and 20LM04 (clutch housing side). Also 2.2 HDi gearbox won't fit into 2.0 HDi block, because it's bigger. You need to use 2.0 HDi ML5C and desired ML6C to create one for 406. Why? Well, RHR gearbox would fit to block, but they're lacking of crank sensor. Not to mention that clutch is different (push type). By the way, there's 20MB27 gearbox with exactly the same final gear ratio (4.06) as HDi 110, so You can build perfect replacement.

Basically, ML5C and ML6C are compatible with eachother.

Hello, I’m currently doing all my research on 6 speed swapping my 2.0 110HDI, so do you just swap the internals of your original 5 speed with the ML6C internals? Sorry it’s just that I’ve done a lot of reading on this and I’m starting to get a bit confused.
Any other information regarding this would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi and welcome aboard.

I don't honestly know if you could swap the internals, but suspect not as the ML6C is physically a little bigger.

Are you sure it's worth doing with a 110 HDi? It may not be able to make much use of the higher top gear. Bear in mind my conversion was on a modified 2.2 Hdi with 180+ bhp and about 400Nm torque so was able to pull the 35 mph/1000 RPM top gear, but even then needed to be doing around 50mph to do it easily.
