Believe it or not, it can be even cheaper.......

Would you like some more horses to go with that?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Where abouts did you have it done?

I don't want a remap, just want to remove the FAP system (got to replace exhaust centre pipe so whilst it's off does make sense...)

Has it improved the fuel consumption, if so by how much?

No, still running the FAP. Not had time to remove it as yet, nor free time to drive up for the remap.
