does anyone know the part number for the alternator belt for a 406 2.0l glx family estate with aircon....cant seemed to find it anywhere and need a new one....while im on does anyone know where i can get cheap belt from....halfords want £25

Hmm, not easy, there are 3 listed on service box depending on RPO and wether a Delphi or Sanden compressor is fitted. The numbers listed are:

5750 VS DRIVE BELT
K6 LE 1740
- UNTIL RPO 09337
COMPRESSOR SANDEN

5750 VX K6- LE 1744
- SINCE RPO 09338
COMPRESSOR SANDEN

5750 YG K6 - LE 1750
COMPRESSOR DELPHI

hi carspares are cheap and if u give them ur reg they will get u the right 1 and if they say there cud be 2 get both and take 1 back

if you near me i lend you my trade card for halfords.

Mines a 2003 2.0 Hdi 90 with air, not sure which.
The original was printed 1744, but I got a 1737 on without too much fuss, plenty of room to grow!

thanks for offer omega but i live near durham.....managed to get one for 14 quid and gunna fit tomorra got a bit of advice on how to fit.....bring back my old austin metro.....easiest car i ever had to work on
