406 hdi estate noise going up hill

Hi all, new to forum so hoping you can help me out with my mothers 406 hdi estate on an 02 plate (Hdi 90). Basically when driving on the flat or down hill it is lovely, as soon as you put it under load going uphill there is a noise, a mix of a whine and grinding sound. I managed to get a recon gearbox to try, still the same, all shafts and mounts fine, catalyst was badly coroded so had that replaced, discs, pads etc all just done and this piggin noise is still there.
Somewhere out there one of you genius' might know the answer, I am stumped so your advice would be very appreciated.

p.s it is now apparently making this noise most of the time and appears to be coming from passenger side.....asprin anyone??
