Timing belt question

2.0hdi 110 estate 2000 model in need of a new timing belt (have the kit here) just need someone local to fit it as my mate is way to busy and i'd like it done asap... anyone know what the labour costs would be?

i would say your looking at around a figure of £150 just for labour for this job mate .

Took me over half a day to do mine, even someone competent tends to take 3-4 hours......

ye a decent garage local to you should be around £150. delear will probably double that :shock:

if you can travel to the blackburn area and wait around then send jasper5 a message. he did mine on my 1.9 td 406.
the guy knows what hes doing proper. i wouldnt use any1 else now for this sort of job

i was thinking Jasper5 but wernt sure where he was from... my local garage quoted £140 but before christmas my lmf quoted me about £60 labour... maybe i should bite his hand off?... Thats about £15 per hour aint it?

Just had it changed for £60 labour plus the price of a fan belt he said was worn. 8)

What about the water pump and tensioner kit? You need to take the timing belt off to change those anyway, and they're such cheap parts it's not worth scrimping on them; if the water pump seizes or a tensioner fails the belt may snap or dislodge anyway :shock:

I bought the kit from ebay before christmas think it was £48 tensioners and belt so today i just paid for labour, he checked the water pump as i requested plus anything else while he was in there and apart from fan belt he said all was fine.
