Morning all,

My D8 1.9dt started to show signs of getting old so I let her go. Now I have an 03 406 HDi s 110BHP Est.
I'll be honest I wept when I left the ol' girl behind on the forecourt.

I have a question regarding fuel economy and I can hear the groan now.

My MFD is saying I am doing 36.7MPG and all shes not carrying luggage or extra passengers.
Aircon is off most of the time aswell.

My Dad on the other hand has an 02 car just like mine only the gear box is different and it's black. (reverse is bottom right where it should be in my eyes lol)
He gets way better acceleration, better economy (48mpg) and as he is a house carer meaning his car is full of allsorts for his job.

Now either I fill my boot up with crap like he does and see how that goes... or am I following the hunch that my MAF sensor is knobbed?

A couple of times Ive tried to make a speedy get away at a round about and the car 'was not ready'
some times snailing out and suddenly remembering to accelerate a bit.

Turbo is fine, no EMLs, No leakages, garage serviced her before I took her way new years eve and I drive with my windows shut.

Is any of this normal?

The economy is about the same as mine, but I'm afraid I don't share the "snailing out" as the performance on mine is what I would call adequate (never been the same since I took Doggy's 2.2 out last year).

Diesels can vary so much in performance & economy depending on how they've been "run in".

All depends on whether its been thrashed. If it has then rings, etc will be well worn so you aint gonna get same consumption as the other 1. Put a bottle of wynnes or forte through it. But i think its gonna be cold weather & worn emgine combo
