Unusual problem petrol?

Hi guys got into my car yesterday turned the key cranked it over tried to fire up but wouldnt ,spent 5 mins turning it over and it started ran a bit rough then ran ok and I have had no problem since.The petrol light was on would this cause it to not start as I believe there is petrol in it when this light comes onthanks in advance ......Rob

was the car parked level,or on a slope when fuel light was on?
sometimes ive found cars wont start when theyre on Reserve parked on a slight-slope :?

Thanks for the reply Lozz it was parked on a slight incline outside my house but I have had the orange light on before outside my house and it has never refused to start must be just one of those things :roll: but it is running fine now :?

My car coughs and splutters when fuel light is on,
its parked on a slope so iguess it carnt pick up fuel properly On reserve fuel~ if parked on a slope/incline,
ive noticed the Fuel guages are incorrect on french cars,
