Engine anti-pollution system defective

I have had a look around before posting this topic but couldn't really find one that resembles my problem so here it goes...
I had a blowing exhaust that was needing a repair, the car is a taxi and i didnt really have the time to get round to it at that point so i let it run for a few weeks blowing (not a serious blowing) during a saturday nightshift a couple of weeks ago i had to do an emergency stop as some drunk jumping out infront of me, thats when my management light came on and the "Engine anti-pollution system defective" came on, i'm no mechanic so was therefore inclined to drive straight home n get it checked on the monday morning, however i was about 15 miles from home and upon heading home there was no smoke or no limp home mode or any other power issues so i decided it seemed ok to work on i was presuming it's probably because the exhaust was blowing anyways or some sensor fault due to the emergency stop.
Anyways i'm a few weeks down the line have had the exhaust fixed and the light remained on so i took it to a garage to get the code read, no fault codes we're coming up on the computer, so i took it to a second garage and again no fault codes shown, meanwhile the car is driving fine no smoke or any other visiable faults it's well maintained and serviced between every 10-12 thousand, but the light remains, i dont really wanna take it to the peugeot dealer to be ripped off so does anyone have any idea's any other things i could try or what it could be? i'm not sure if it has one of they particulation filters on the exhaust? Or is there anyone on here local to Livingston/Edinburgh with the pp2000 i could maybe meet up with? Or should i try manually resetting the ecu by removing the battery?
soz about the long story just wanted to explain it as it happened, any help greatly appreciated
The car is a 2.0 hdi 90's on a 53 plate with 133 miles on the clock
