HPi Antipolution Fault, P1113 & Limp home mode - HELP!

So I was on the way home yesterday, joined a dual carriageway and pulled out to pass a bus, accelerating up towards 70 and I had a sudden loss of power, Antipollution Fault and Engine Management Light

I was right by a junction so pulled straight off the dual carriageway and found a spot to park up and take stock, turns out she's in limp mode and limited to 2000 rpm, running rough below that too if there's any load on the engine. So I limped it the 15 miles home (2000rpm = about 47mph in 5th BTW, that was fun! )

Brilliant, I love it when the code doesn't tell you what the fault is

Reset the code and the car starts without the fault, but as soon as you rev it up the fault comes back.

Any idea where that sensor is? Or any other ideas??

Oh lordy The stuff of nightmares, especially on your lump. Umm, looks like it's on the throttle body, according to Service Box (19208Y)

Ah! steve beat me to it with a better informed / more accurate dognosis.

Can't do any harm to undo the connector and slide it it back in a few times, look for anything displaced on the air intake pipes etc.

Hope you get it sorted painlessly.

Should be about 62. Have you got a tuned speedometer, then puggles?

Maybe try MPH, they're the BIGGER NUMBERS

Right, I'm in need of a sanity check here...

I've got the sensor off and given it a clean, checked the connections etc, started the car, no difference.

Then I started the car without the sensor connected, still no difference.

To my mind that means that the sensor's deffo knackered... or am I being overly optomistic?

I would agree with doggy Dai , given that list of cars that share the same
sensor do you know anyone with a car thats on that list , quick swap to be
100% sure ???

Good call Lou, I'll apply my grey matter to that. I've been ringing 'round trying to get one but no chance 'till Monday locally.

Well got the sensor (only cost me a tenner in the end) but it hasn't cured it.

I see several references on the net to people taking HDis in to the dealer and being told it's fuel rail pressure, but I can't see how they arrive at that from this fault code.

Local expert is 40 miles away (at 2000 rpm!!) and can't look at it until Thursday...

Anyone able to offer any more guidance?

IAP .... Intake air pressure fault , possibly MAF or MAF sensor problem ???

Oh bugger, one of those times the fault code isn't the actual problem, rather an indicator that you need experience to interpret correctly. Or a forked stick...

Perhaps the problem's at the other end of the cable - try reseating the ecu connector

So I got it to the garage at no more than 2000rpm, avoiding motorways and dual carriageways and using all the "old" roads (that was fun, particularly the really steep hill start with a lorry up my chuff!! ). Anyway, the feedback is that as suspected it's a fuel rail pressure fault, the LP pump is fine and performing to spec, so it's either the HP pump, rail or regulator. He's ruled out the rail so we're looking at replacing the regulator and / or the pump. Both together come to around £500 + fitting + VAT . To be fair he's suggested that he changes the regulator first 'cos it's the much cheaper part and if that doesn't solve it he'll change the pump. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's going to be the pump at fault though, and a failed pump causes the regulator to fail so both will need changing anyway, I fear this is going to sting bad!!!

A pump went on the bay of e for 90 quid a while back, 2nd hand of course.

I'm trying to find equivalent part numbers (did they fit these to Fiats?), Siemens apparently (kiss of death ), although I spotted one on a Lithuanian site with Continental written on it
