Hi,

I have just had my Pug 2.0 110bhp serviced (new filters, oil etc), I have filled the tank and added some diesel injector cleaner.

The problem is that my dad was following my back home; he noticed it producing black smoke only when I accelerated (This was at motorway speeds, not low speeds around town), does anybody have any ideas why?

Peugeot accessed the ECU and found no faults, is it that the turbo is not producing enough pressure so there is some un-burnt diesel leaving the exhaust? (If so how do I fix it?)

Many thanks for any help,

Andy

hi,

duno if this helps, but had a look in the tail pipe and there is loads of black soot in there, does this just need blowing out?

I am taking the car on a 260mile trip tomorrow, see if that helps blow all the crap out of the system and hopfully get rid of the black smoke

Many Thanks,

ANdy

There is only really one answer..........

EGR Valve, located to the left at the back and at the top of the engine near the bulkhead looks like a diaphram valve with a black rubber tube connected to it.

If this looks all sooty and you can smell exhaust fumes around it when the engine is running then it is leaking and it does cause the smoke from the zorst.

Can you clean these out yourself or does it have to be a replacement jobby?

DP alert!

I think most owners report of better performance once the EGR is replaced!!

Hi,

Would the peugoet dealer not have found this problem (EGR), throught the ECU diagnostic?

After my long drive the smoke on acceralting is still there , so it is either the EGR or the turbo, but if the turbo was broken, the car would not pull!

Many Thansk,

Andy
