dump valve help, which one?

i wish to fit a dump valve to the turbo(petrol) i can only find a bailey single piston, what other makes/types can i fit as i dont really get it
i have seen another brand of single piston for cheaper will this work? does it allways have to be single piston?
any help would be super, cheers all have a good xmas

im thinking about doing this to my SRi model but unsure which one to get, dont really want to use ebay on this one

u can use any single piston dump valve doesnt matter which make, but I had a cheaper one and it didnt hold up to the pressure for long before it broke, got a bailey now and u cant go wroung with then, bought mine off ebay £15 works spot on

on the top ic hose i belive but u would need some eletronic gismo's for it to work

how much would a basic setup cost and where could i get one from, sorry to sound like a complete n00b now but i would rather ask and get it right then buy one and find out its completly the wrong one lol

The only benefit to fitting a dump-valve on a diesel is the "tshhhhhhhhhhh" noise, there's no perfromance benefit at all. As mentioned a few posts up, to make one work on a diesel you need to fit a few extra bits to it as it is controlled by electronics mostly. The way it works on a petrol engine, is that when the butterfly valve in the throttle body closes it vents the excess boost out of the dump-valve so the turbo doesn't stall, and there are two types of valve, re-circulating or atmospheric, re-circulating vents back into the airbox, atmospheric vents directly out the top of the valve into, yep you guessed it...............the atmosphere

There's no butterfly on a diesel hense the need for an electronic gizmo to open it when the throttle is closed, it involves a switch or two and a little wiring but it's fairly easy to do.
