I thought you were allowed to make a "backup" copy Andy.
I was worried there for a moment!!
I only ever listen to backups in the car. I used to be a club DJ, and I did the same there. I dont want to ruin my media like I used to! Ive got so many CD's that are scratched beyond belief.
PS T-cut works wonders on scratched CD's!

That is only legal in the USA, in UK you cant legally copy anything. However no 1 will get done for copying it providing they dont sell it. Authorities are more interested in the ppl selling copied gear. But copying anything is ILLEGAL in UK law. I should know my house was raided by CID and I was arrested for Conspiracy to Defraud, Copyright & Trademark acts etc. I said what u just quoted and was laughed at and told only in USA not UK.xplosiv wrote:Hi
Actually it is not ILLEGAl to copy/backup a music CD, here are the real rules --
RULE 1: You can legally make one backup copy of any digital media you already own, in case the original gets damaged. EXCEPT DVDs. If you make a copy of a DVD as a backup, you will be breaking the law.
RULE 2: You can transfer any of your legally owned media onto a different media, so that now you own two different formats of it (this is called "space shifting"), e.g., if you own a CD you can legally make an MP3 version of it; or if you legally own an MP3 you can burn it onto a CD; or you can transfer your legally owned floppy disks onto a CD, etc. As long as you own an original copy you are allowed to possess it in several different media formats. EXCEPT DVDs. If you make a copy of a DVD in any other format, you will be breaking the law.
Thanks,
Andy

All my copies are of originals which I still own (I'm such a good boy ), I just don't like leaving my originals inside the CD changer as I know they wont be covered by the car insurance if the car gets swipedWelton wrote:Foghorn Leghorn wrote:Ooohh!!
