i couldnt resist ,pic heavy read!!
well when i got the coupe i promised the mrs i would leave it as standerd as when i picke it up.
well that aint happend.
as i sell bolts, nuts and braided brake lines these are the first bits to get changed.
when i had to take the tb off the other day i measured a few bits up and have replaced the bolts.
im not modifying just replacing rusty bolts dear
next up is to measure a few more of the more visable ones up before moving on to the less easy to get at!!
aim is to replace all the old bolts in the bay with shiney new ones.
once done ill offer them as sets to the forum users
if i get chance tomorrow ill be checking the brake line lengthes and specs prior to getting a set made up in stainless steel braided .
oh and ibe changed the indicators to smoked items, look good and seamless apposed to the big orange things
right then had a bit of spare time today so have fitted up a few more bolts and measured aload more which il be getting in the week.
front cam cover, will replace all of them, havent had the cover off but i assume there is another four on the inner edge and the same on the rear covers?
all will be done in time
throttle body cover and body!!
all have being replaced
upper engine mount nuts, the bolt will be replaced aswell with a matching one once i get it.
dusk reflection in the paint on roof
think the next step will be a respray of the strutbrace and the engine cover bit
either in polaris blue or the same grey as the mirror backs
all the bolts under the front cover have now being replaced
just got to stock up and pluck up the courage to remove the inlet and do the rear ones
reall need to do something with the corroded parts of the engine but am unsure as to what just yet.
ok more work done
have gone from the above
to this
still needs a bit more work, but im unable to get down the shed and use the buffing wheel
i will get a nice shiney engine bay!!

Was that engine cover originally on a Citroen? Sure the "V6 24" should be gold on 406s...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

as a person who works on cars every day, your engine bay looks like a complete and utter 100% nightmare now.
1997 2.1TD executive estate - mmmm, lovely

and what makes you say that??totaleclipse wrote:as a person who works on cars every day, your engine bay looks like a complete and utter 100% nightmare now.
and its a good job in 15 years of driving that all the work required on my car has being done by myself!
at least then i know its being done properly with all the torque settings correct and good quality parts fitted
Re: i couldnt resist ,pic heavy read!!
I think he's referring to your old car. Imagine it from his point of view... You come in and ask him for some work, and it's going to take him 5x as long to do because he's got to make sure he doesn't get anything dirty, which means cleaning his tools, washing his hands every 30 seconds, etc. Even something like changing brake pads+discs would take much longer due to having to be extremely careful about winding back the pistons in case brake fluid spills or spits...swampyv6 wrote:and what makes you say that??totaleclipse wrote:as a person who works on cars every day, your engine bay looks like a complete and utter 100% nightmare now.
I just keep mine "clean enough". No heavy gunk deposits on anything so I can see where things are leaking, but not so clean as to make any work take excessively long
