HDI 90 - Difficult to drive slowly
HDi 90 difficult to drive slowly.
By this I mean 1st gear, traffic jams and once in a funeral courtege.
On the clutch it feels like it might stall, give it a bit of juice but then coming off the accelerator the car jerks.
Someone suggested engine mounts when my flexi pipe snapped, but there isn't any real play on the engine when I push on it.
Changed the TPS and MAF, clutch pedal sensor and disconnected EGR.
Is there a sensor on the accelerator pedal?

Re: HDI 90 - Difficult to drive slowly
To check the mounts:
With the engine idling just rev it slightly and if it lurches forward by any more that about 25mm the the rear mount is worn. After I replaced mine the engine hardly moved at all and the car car smoother to drive.
It's a good place to start anyway......

Re: HDI 90 - Difficult to drive slowly
As welly say's , all my mounts have been changed this year and improved the drive no
end , but even though the rear mount was done only several months ago i think it
is on its way out again and it's a genuine pug part

Looks like a big job, not for an amateur DIYer. 2.5 hours in the garage though, it may wait til after xmas!
Cheers all.

Re: HDI 90 - Difficult to drive slowly
I paid the price for ignoring (well, I didn't know really) mine and the excess engine movement tore through the eggsauce flexi and put a hole in the intercooler hose at the front.
Be still my quivering wallet

Don't fancy paying for it again
With Santa coming and my fairer half wanting nice shiny things on xmas morning, and I'm going to be in between jobs going from a pre-paid job to a paid monthly job using all my savings to live for the next couple of months, was hoping to get away with the car recently serviced until the new year and sanity is restored

Re: HDI 90 - Difficult to drive slowly
Have you checked the idle speed -should be 730 on a diesel. I had similiar problem recently caused by idling too fast-opened the bonnet, traced the cable to the plastic cam that controls the throttle, literally just touched it and idle speed went back to normal and normal driving resumed. No idea what caused it though!

on a HDi I think its closer to 925-950 ish.
maybe on the old TD lumps its supposed to lower but the HDi is defo higher than that.
