On the flow pipe in the engine bay above the hp pump the flow pipe to the filter goes through a black box and then down to the filter, this black box has a plug with a couple of wires going to it, what is it for? is it a solenoid, fuel cut off valve or whatATB

Not certain, but I think it's the fuel line heater - only turns on below about -2 C, IIRC
