Always put cheap semi-synthetic in may last Hdi, but noticed it was a bit more noisy after about 10,000 miles, which I put down to the oil being a bit thinner and not working the hydraulic tappets so well. (It always went quiet after the next oil change). It was certainly good enough, I ran it from 85,000 to 184,000 in 4 years with no engine problems barring the usual belts & pulleys pallaver.
Not done an oil change on the 2.2 yet - I'll see if this one's the same after 10,000 miles from last service. I was thinking that carrying on with whatever it's used to would be logical, until I looked at the receipts I was given with It, e.g.:
Sterling Peugeot, Norwich 24/07/07

Mind you it did also include a brake efficiency test, (£14.99) & Check tracking (all OK) £29.98

Think i'll take mine to have the oil & filter replaced and ill do the rest myself.

I hate changing oil with the the car on axle stands

i get lots of stuff from halfords as i have a trade cardand most of it is good
just be carefull of there oil filters as some of them dont have a non return valve fitted when they should have which is not goodfor the engine as your oil light then comes on for a few seconeds when you start the engine while the filter fills up.but i dont no if the hdi has one[non return valve].

Not an issue as D9s don't have an oil pressure light :? :roll: :shock:

I was wondering about that after exboyracer mentioned it in the coupe club, do early D9s have them? How about all D9 coupes?

They've been on cars since the beginning of time but Pug now think it's ok if they don't fit them, what's going on there then? Why bother fitting an ignition/generator light? Hey, why bother fitting any lights or gauges at all??! Over-revving/battery not charging/running out of fuel/exceeding the speed limit/engine too hot/oil level low=STOP light and tow truck straight to Peugeot :roll:

I thought it was just D9 HDi's :?

My 'X' Reg 2000 Rapier 90HDi has the low oil pressure light on the dash and the oil level indicator in the total and trip milage screen when starting up.

After reading about the troublesome undertray I think i'll take it to a tyres and exhaust place doing servicing but just get them to do the Oil & Oil Filter, although would be concerned about the quality of the oil filter and oil and if they where gunna be hand fisted with the sump plug and the tray... :?

I normally service cars myself but I hate been under the car when its not on a nice lift! Been there done that lol

I'm sure my T reg D9 had the 'Oil Can' warning.

Maybe they dropped it and used the STOP light instead?

Talking of dropping instruments, I had the gross misfortune of taking back a Hired brand new ford fezza 1.2 this week and noticed it had no temperature gauge :o ........consequently I didn't know when it would be ok to thrash the thing so just thrashed it anyway :cheesy: :supafrisk:

If anyone is thinking of buying a new fezza I'd think very carefully! the interior is very, very, very odd.....designed with 13 year old kids in mind I think! I've never seen anything so strange and dangerously distracting.

Welly, those new Fiestas in the diesel version are a real pain, I've had a few recently with leaks from the injectors (a spitting noise on tickover), you have to remove the cam cover, which is also the inlet manifold, and the timing belt cover to get at the injectors....a real pain :( All the spill piping has to be replaced as well, the last one, last monday, took me 6 hours because the injectors were difficult to remove.

I've had loads of rear wheel bearing replacements too.

Typical new car being kicked out of the factory gates for us poor motorists to 'test' :roll:

I thought it would be a half-decent drive but it felt crappy.

The stereo controls were dangerously laid out.

New cars are 'appliances' to be thrown away once you've finished with them :(
