How do you know the head gasket hasnt gone,
if its not Running how can a sniff test have been carried out?

Have you tried starting it up on Sniff?

Does it sound like its struggling when turning over,

Keep at it mate, youl sort it,
if it is the H/g its still well worth fixing,
it be worth more as a runner than a breaker

Have you got a code-reader mate?
might be worth getting it code-read if possible, it might give you a clearer idea of what it is if its electrical problem,
Daft question here: did you ask the last owner (Forum member) What lead him to the conclusion that the H/g had blown?
wonder if it was a Back fire that had lead him to think that, :?

timing Dropped out perhaps ?
