our 406 d8 2.1td has 129k on it but it was bought to replace our mondeo 1.8td that had 355k on it.. as you can imagine the modeo was getting tired but was still sold on and the couple that bought it were happy with the way it drove...

Mines a 99 Hdi110. got it in march this year with 105k, and have put 30k on it since then. Its not skipped a beat, soooooo much more comfortable than my old 306! Just passed its mot no probs. Before that had a 306 1.9d, owned for 5years, 145k, passed all 5 mots with no work!

Drove a 2001 hdi 2.1 the other week though with 308k on it  Drives as well if not better than mine!

Everyone.

Actually, it's only the earlier Peugeots that were good and long lasting. It all went wrong with the 307 onwards.

And for the love of God (or whoever you worship), do not buy a Renault. My mum's S reg diesel Clio (the "newer" shape) has done 80k and it feels like driving inside a box of bolts. It is so horribly rattly, loose, feels like it's going to fall apart that it's put me of Renaults for life.

My dad's Pug 106 1.5L diesel is damn slow but very reliable. I think he had an alternator go bust in it and nothing else in around 7 years that he's had it. My 48 size feet (12 in UK speak) don't fit the pedals though as I keep hitting the brakes when I want to hit the gas.

I learned that lesson the hard way with my Laguna which pretty much fell apart before I wrote it off by driving on some mud

Yeah the wheels sunk into the mud, the mud pushed the bumper in breaking the radiator and bending the chassis - both sides! The bumper however survived  Says a lot when your front bumper is stronger than your chassis

We're talking about 10mph too

At least it gave me an excuse to get rid of the thing. It wouldn't even make it up the hill to work unless I had a good run up...

2l D9 She,s done just under 120k. She was a bit of a tart when younger but is settling into respectable old age now. Had a few electrical problems(who hasn't) and got a strange engine fault right now, but on a good day!!!! :D
