Vibration & possible boost leak

Post by gtijon »

My 406 HDi 110 has a right vibration around 1800-1900 rpm, say if you're chugging along in third at 30. Change to 4th and around 1400 revs and it's gone (so the engine's not labouring), accelerate up to around 2100 revs and it's gone. Any ideas?

Another thing is there's a possible boost leak - one of the joints on the inlet manifold is oily. Is it just a simple gasket from the likes of GSF or is a dealer bit?

Regarding your vibration, I would look at your bottom engine mounting.

The oily leak could be from the cam cover gasket. I doubt it is a boost leak because you should hear either a whistle, or a throated sound if the hole is large enough. If it is a fault with the gasket, you may be best to apply some instant gasket sealant with the gasket.
