Re: squeeling noise
There is a Low Pressure lift pump in the tank which sends Diesel upto the Filter/High Press pump this runs for about 3 seconds on ignition.
You can sometimeshear a high pitched sound in the engine bay, this is the fuel going through a thermostatic element which decides whether the fuel needs pre heating or not.
Of course it could be one of the many weird electrical noises like I get from the wing mirror and somewhere near my accelerator foot

Re: squeeling noise
That's funny, I get a squeeling noise whenever I either put my foot down or turn the stereo up.
I know the cause though, fortunatly she's at work this afternoon

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
