Help identifying parts (ES9J4)

Post by wazzimombler »

Hello I was wondering if anyone could please help me identify a couple of parts on a 406 coupe 3.0 v6. We are currently putting my dad's car back together and we're having trouble to figure out where the white plug in the picture plugs in to as everything around it is connected, and the other part that I've circled in the picture looks as though something should be plugged in the top of it? Please can anyone help us identify these two parts and what there purpose is? Thank you all in advance and I hope you're all well!! :D

The two circled parts need identifying as to purpose and where they go.

Hi. It might be useful to know what year the car was built. Umm, I'm thinking this is an automatic and that's the selector switch on the end of the cable. We're a bit (lot) lacking in wiring diagrams these days but looking at this thread https://www.406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=8234 ok, it's a manual car, but on the top of the gearbox is the reversing light switch (14th picture) and it looks like it's a 2 way white, probably redundant on an automatic as I'd think that was also in the selector switch. Maybe. I don't know what that is on top of the cable, looks like a tube in a spring? Lord knows, might just be a damper :?
