Clutch and or gearbox?

Post by RayneR »

Since i got my car repaired ( 4weeks ago) i have noticed a whistle sound everytime 4th and 5th gear was engage and the more the speed i get more the whistle we hear.

Also the 3th gear wasn't engaging sometimes only when i released the clutch a tiny bit. But after this gear passed to 5th gear and this one came dificult to engage sometimes.

Another aspect is that i also noticed alot more noise from engine like it was a more powerful car, even when in idle and rev it a little bit, it looked like those old diesel engines.

The problem is that from the day to night it started to do a lot of noise when i reached the city and disengage the 5th gear it looked like it was breaking something inside the motor and then came the gearbox not letting me engage any gear, most entered by force. Then happened to engage rear and no rear lights on and then it was very dificult to disengage i had to play with the clutch pedal.

Another fact is that on some gears the very loud sound(the one that looks somethings is breaking inside) was gone ( but the whistle thing was still there) and also on the 5th there was no sound and i was releafed since most of the travel was being made on motorway.

Another thing is that at 154k kilometers i have done the solid flywheel + clutch replacement from valeo. Now the engine have 206k km.

So the problem here is the clutch probably? If it's only the plate and release bearing what clutch should i look for will a bi mass one works with the solid flywheel i have or is the flywheel + clutch that is dead ?

Thank you again, my 406 is giving me headaches since the accident :(

I would think the first thing to do would be to check the oil level in the gearbox.

It's the gearbox with the rails broken inside ... the lucky thing is that my original gearbox was still around the garage and my gearbox only had the chassis broken so they will replace the chassis from the broken one to my gearbox.

Thank you.
