You'll probably think this sounds stupid, but what condition is your exhaust in?
I know it doesn't have a trubo, but I recently had a Nissan Almera with a similar noise with lack of power every now and then, until one day I had a call to say it was pulling badly and hissing, I drove the car up a hill accelerating hard when the middle silencer literally blew apart and the car ran like a dream.
The wool interior had failed and blocked the silencer.
Just a thought!

Re: Turbo Noise
I couldn't make out the sound distinctly, but if what you're saying is that on sustained maximum boost, (as you would get on say a long uphill climb), you get an oscillating noise that sounds like it's dumping excess pressure, then that seems to be normal, (or at least mine's always done it too).
Suspect it's the ecu regulating the boost by moving the turbo actuator, which effectively makes the pressure in the exhaust fluctuate too. I reckon mine has always had a bit of leak in the flexi section, which could explain why other 2.2 owners don't report the same thing.

2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Re: Turbo Noise
The 2.0 xsara.ive just got rid of /sold
made a hissing noise, when it was understrain, had it looked at,everything was ok.
someone said it was dumping air back into the intercooler under full boost, was ok till remaped,
are you sure your car as not had a re-map?

Re: Turbo Noise
Thats a good point actually, it makes logical sense plus it would explain a lot of things... should only take 5 mins to disconnect the clamp after the FAP section and give it a blast, so ill try that...jasper5 wrote:You'll probably think this sounds stupid, but what condition is your exhaust in?

if it was just the noise id not be that bothered, its just the crap mpg, crap power (especially when up-shifting) and lag despite a vacuum system thats spot on and tried all possible sensors...
