Speedo drops off

Post by 406Kris »

Hi guys, I'm not sure if this belongs here!!

When travelling at around 48-50MPH and keep it at that speed for a few minutes the speedo needle drops down to the bottom of the gauge and feel like a little drop in power, as soon as I press the pedal to speed up the speedo comes back on as if nothing happened. Any ideas?

All help appreciated
Thanks
Kris

Aahhh! Had the exact same prob. Its the speedo sensor at the back on top of the gear-box. Its awkward to get to from underneath unless its on a ramp. The sensors a white plastic type that all go eventually. I tried takin the dash out etc, lookin for dry joints cos i thought it was elec the way the speedo just flickered on and off. Cant remember how much they cost. Its just held in with 1 bolt or torx/cant remember which

Mine does similar.

Did your speedo sender sort it out?

I notice there are plenty of genuine / copy / new / used. senders on ebay.

Ps, drain gearbox oil first or you get a load of smelly 75w80 down your arm!

Amazing how they make them outta plastic. Small things like sensors breaking-its this kind of thing that peugeot are terrible for.

Thanks for the replies, I haven't had a chance to do it yet need to ring Peugeot for a price then compare on eBay. I'll post as soon as I complete the job
