Ah no! After cleaning away the accumulated muck, I can now confirm that it's a BE4:steve_earwig wrote:Oooh, what a pa-lavaI gather the balls are different sizes on the ML5T so impossible to mix up but I don't know about the ML5C (which yours obviously is 'cos it has 3 cables)
I might need to add this to the Knowledge Base, perhaps you were just unlucky or it might be a ML5C thing...

I was searching for some form of identification the other day - with no luck, and yet, there it was, right by the left hand side mounting bracket area.
After I'd cleaned it up, we went surfing:

Actually no, once I realised that I had a vague memory that the gearbox used to live in the engine bay, I shuffled under the car with the gearbox on my chest and stomach and somehow, although I can't remember quite how - I lifted it up back into position.
I had failed to do it with the jack, so I found that doing it with my head under the sump, legs sticking out under the nearside/left hand side wheelarch, it somehow fitted into position, although I have yet to finally mate it to the engine block - which I'm going to go out and do now...
