Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?
Now on 177k.
Had four new tyres today and the guy commented on the high mileage, which actually surprised me as I really don't think that is very much. Moreover, four new tyres commits me to run it for another ~50k
WeeDunc64:
Exhaust: should have looked before you bought. Mine did 150k before it needed patching; motorway salt ate it.
Water pump: should be changed with cambelt at ~100k anyway.
Brake pipes: that seems like very bad luck
Crank pully should be treat as a "consumable". I managed 125k.
MAF sensor? Again bad luck. Cheap to fix but potentially expensive to diagnose
That really is very bad luck with the fuel pumps You could just get another 406 for that money
Some members cars seem to eat drop links, but I've never had any to replace any.
Alternators always seem to die on me at 120k; maybe you've got that to look forward to.

Tempting fate perhaps, but when the Dogmobile returns from a long weekend in sunny Dorset, the total will be just over 160,000.
Now if somebody can give me directions to sunny Dorset, from the real Dorset, that'd be great.

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?
My first post on this forum
I had a 2.0 TDi 90 at my 18th which sadly ended up total loss a few years later, I drove it from 186.000 to about 270.000 km's. The funny thing is that is actually was underpowered regarding torque (and bhp). I had to shift up constantly in french/italian mountainous areas
Now, I have a 09/2001 2.0 HDi 90, which I bought at 170.000 and chiptuned to about 115 bhp at about 220.000 km's. To my disbelief, the fuel economy actually increased (with the same weight in my right foot ofcourse). Nowadays it has 354.000 km's on the clock and its doing just peachy. (my age has meanwhile increased to 25) Only thing is when I had my clutch replaced they did not replace my "pressure group bearings" (is this correct english?).
So, since I am considering a 406 coupe 2.2 HDi 133 (2003 and up), I thought I'd stick to the formula and register here
Cheers from dutchland,
J

I am the 3rd owner, 53 plate 2.2 HDi. Bought with 130k on, has now done 132k - no issues apart from DPF light lit on dash twice. Now removed thanks to files and advice from Doggy - mucho thanks for that, saved me a fortune and car goes likt the preverbial off a stick now!

hdi 90bhp saloon just turned 89k genuine. No mechanical issues yet but some niggly electrics as always
Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?
Well, another 2.5yrs on, still chugging along. 311k over the weekend, on look out for a new one though, probably 2.2 version.
Dave107 wrote:2002 90 HDI LX
I have had mine for 3.5yrs, clocked over the 200k mark last weekend. The highest 'recordable' mileage I have had yet. My mondeo had 202k, but the clockometer stopped working at 198k
I expect to get another 25-50k before I change. Serviced every 12k,
Plan now, to upgrade it, mod wise.

SN/AC,
311k on the clock..

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?
Just passed 222k miles on a hdi 110
It needs a bit of money spending on it (clutch, cambelt, tyres etc) and I was thinking of replacing it, however seeing this thread has made me realise it has loads of life left!
What really amazes me is it still doesn't burn any oil - does the 12k between services without a top-up
