2.1td cambelt change, now starting problems
well, I did the cambelt and aux over the weekend, the only problem now is difficulty starting, its almost as if the preheat doesnt work, the only electrics i disturbed was to disconnect the battery and take of the starter motor for access to the crank locking hole.
when it runs it runs cleanly with no smoke, pull's like a train which makes me think its not to do with mispositioned cambelt, it was all working fine until the belt change.
if the belt was out would it cause this problem, as i say it ticks over and runs fine, no missing etc, any ideas?

Check the juice to the glow plugs, might just be an earth lead you knocked when locking the flywheel pin.

nope, idle's sure and steady and no engine light, no smoke or even haze, in fact ive just come back from a 20 mile drive and i have to say i was impressed with the way the old girl wanted to get down the road!poddack wrote:no uneven idle, no engine light?
just had a thought, is there something else that could be fine tuned given that the new belt doesnt have the "stretch" that the old belt might have had, could something have been adjusted to compensate for the old belt?

Did you disturb any fuel pipes?
try the priming bulb in a morning, if it's soft you're probably leaking air into the fuel system.
